Role Overview
As a Presales Network Engineer, you will capture detailed customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions for projects covering multiple smart domains (automation, fire alarm, CCTV, lighting, energy saving, etc.).
You will design system and network architectures, prepare technical proposals—including detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs)—and respond to consultant comments for large-scale smart projects (e.g., smart buildings, hotels, hospitals).
Key Responsibilities
- Engage customers to identify exact technical requirements for smart solutions and network infrastructure.
- Design full system and network architectures spanning multiple smart domains (automation, CCTV, fire alarm, lighting, energy management, and more).
- Prepare detailed technical proposals and BOQs for tender submissions, including hardware, software, cabling, and installation quantities (devices, panels, controllers, sensors, cabling, network hardware, accessories, etc.).
- Present solutions, value engineering options, and system integration strategies to customers and consultants.
- Participate in technical meetings and confidently handle feedback from project consultants.
- Review project documentation and drawings; prepare, revise, and submit CAD layouts, schematics, and as-built documentation.
- Collaborate with sales, project, and installation teams to ensure seamless solution delivery.
- Attend site surveys, assess infrastructure, and advise on upgrades/enhancements.
- Support post-sales teams during project implementation as required.
BOQ (Bills of Quantities) Responsibilities
- Generate comprehensive BOQs for all system components, network infrastructure, accessories, and installation works.
- Accurately quantify devices, cable runs, panels, racks, and all integration hardware/software required for each solution.
- Ensure itemized breakdown in BOQs by system (e.g., CCTV cameras and NVRs, automation controllers, lighting panels, fire alarm loops, networking switches/routers/fiber, etc.).
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to keep BOQ specifications up-to-date and value-optimized.
- Present and defend BOQs during tender evaluation and consultant clarifications.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 4–5 years’ experience in presales, design, or solution engineering for smart systems and networking.
- Experience with both active and passive networking; hands-on in 2–3 smart system domains.
- Previous work for reputable integrators (e.g., Giza Systems, Systel).
- Proficient at preparing, reviewing, and optimizing BOQs for smart building or hospitality projects.
- Skilled in responding to consultant design comments and technical reviews.
Technical Skills
- System and network design (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, fiber optics, structured cabling).
- Smart system integration: at least 2–3 of Fiber-com’s business domains.
- BOQ preparation, tender documentation, and technical submittals.
- Network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP); familiar with Cisco, HPE, Juniper, etc.
- AutoCAD, Visio, BOQ/estimation tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Electronics, or similar.
- Relevant professional certifications (CCNA/CCNP/NSE/Aruba/ELV/KNX, etc.).
- Fluent in English (written/spoken).
