Accountant 1: General Ledger, Reporting, Tax & Compliance
Role Overview:
Responsible for the integrity of the general ledger, statutory and management reporting, tax compliance (including VAT and withholding), audit support, and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Ledger & Financial Transactions
- Record, review, and reconcile all journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Maintain accurate ledgers and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow).
- Develop periodic management reports on expenditures, revenues, and financial status.
- Tax Compliance
- Calculate, record, and file monthly VAT returns (14% as per Egyptian law), ensuring correct application after 1% withholding where applicable.
- Apply and report 1% withholding tax on supplier invoices, ensuring timely remittance to the Tax Authority.
- Prepare and submit other tax filings (income tax, payroll tax, etc.).
- Audit & Internal Controls
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in annual budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Confidentiality & Security
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial records and ensure secure data backups.
- Process Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes and reporting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in general accounting, reporting, and compliance.
- Proficient in Odoo or similar ERP, and advanced Excel.
- Strong knowledge of Egyptian tax law, VAT, and accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and strong communication skills.
